Recond Car Scam by R Concept Direct Import Empire Malaysia
In recent years, the reconditioned car scam has become a significant issue in Malaysia, affecting many consumers. Reconditioned cars, often referred to as "recond cars," are vehicles that have been imported into the country, refurbished, and sold at a lower price than brand new cars. While these cars can offer value for money, the rising scams associated with them have raised serious concerns among buyers.
One of the most common types of recond car scams involves fraudulent dealers who misrepresent the condition and history of the vehicles they sell. Many unsuspecting buyers fall for the enticing prices and appealing advertisements, only to find out later that the car has hidden defects or has been involved in serious accidents. In some cases, the vehicles may not even meet the Malaysian safety and emission standards, posing significant risks to drivers and passengers.
Scammers often use attractive financing options to lure customers, making the purchase seem more affordable. However, these financing schemes may come with hidden fees or predatory interest rates that leave buyers in financial distress. The allure of owning a luxury vehicle at a fraction of the cost often blinds consumers to the potential risks.
Reports from local authorities and consumer advocacy groups indicate that the level of scams has increased, especially during economic downturns when more individuals are looking for cheaper alternatives. One notorious example involved a dealer who sold cars with tampered mileage and altered paperwork, leading to severe legal repercussions when the truth emerged. Consumers who purchased these vehicles faced enormous repair costs and depreciated resale values.
To combat the growing prevalence of recond car scams, several steps can be taken. First, potential buyers are encouraged to conduct thorough research before making a purchase. This includes verifying the legitimacy of the dealer, checking reviews online, and consulting with trusted friends or family who have experience in buying vehicles. Furthermore, it is advisable to request a comprehensive inspection of the car by a qualified mechanic before finalizing any deal.
We all know a bad customer experience when we encounter one. It can leave you with feelings of frustration and disappointment while you search for a better alternative and tell everyone you know.
Today I am sharing my experience with one Recond Car Company in Malaysia and The Name is of the company is R Concept Direct Import Empire from Malaysia.
I was first offered a recond Merc C200 2019 for the price of RM55,000 via WhatsApp recently, and a minimum booking is required amount of RM500.00 for the process with a promise it is 'Refundable when the car Arrives' from that company. I cancelled the deal at first after knowing that this company was incompetent in providing genuine details about themselves.
The sales person Chai Wei Hong phone number 0147906843 approaced me at first .... and then came the second salesman Steven Pua 011-2336 4635.
They were so eager to close the car deal introducing themselves without the proper name card from the company.
Just Beware of the scams that required you to book a vehicle through a saving personal account especially when the company is registered under a Sdn Bhd.
They was at first trying to give me their copy of I.C to begin with the offer and to gain trust from customer online. I was shocked.
This company R Concept Direct Import Empire do not have a proper office telephone number, only a mobile contact for their customers to reach out and furthermore the website was not properly introducing a genuine business operations. In addition, for a company that claimed to be operated for so many years, it is impossible for them to not having a proper office to run a business in this country. Unless you're at a beginning stage of a business or simply registering a business to scam other people.
Their company address when I searched from the internet lead me to a building situated near the Klang Port in which I saw... was only an abandoned warehouse from Google satellite view. I did not dare to go there after being scammed by Chai.
No signboard of the company. No detailed pictures of the building operating a genuine car business whatsoever.
Now, let's talk about the payment transaction they using for their business. For the Bookings which was promised to be returned to customer after the 'car arrive', they will give individual savings personal bank accounts for the customers to place their booking.
In my case, the booking transaction needed to be made to two names and bank accounts. I will reveal them here for the sake of public awareness towards this issue.
First the name of the account holder send to me for the booking transaction was named Tengku Shaiful Bahrin Bin Engku Azman with BSN Account number 0600641000053083. He said it was the company's directors account. I refuse to make the payment asking for a proper Company Account from this salesman Chai.
He told me the company need to pay for income tax and the booking must not be made to the Company Account. I was waiting for the answer why I must made the bookings to personal accounts instead and Chai told me Only the monthly installments will be made to the company account and the booking must be made to the accounts advised for the car processing. I didn't proceed with what he said at first with that Tengku account.
Then the second salesman Steven Pua out of nowhere, perhaps he got my contact from the company, offered me with another C200 Mercedes in white color with price of RM64,000.
Not only his number when called not in service, he was also trying to cheat the prospects with fake reviews and Whatsapp updates to get potential buyers to pay for the booking of the car that doesn't exist.
The authority must act on this matter immediately before more innocent people effected by their scam.
In conclusion, while reconditioned cars can provide an affordable solution for many Malaysians, the risks associated with scams cannot be overlooked.
Consumers must arm themselves with knowledge and exercise caution when navigating the recond car market. By staying informed and vigilant, buyers can protect themselves from potential fraud and make informed decisions when purchasing a vehicle.
Informing the masses about this one serious matter I experience with the company. I will keep on writing about more other matter worth sharing.
Farida.
